The Bible Scholars Group is an online classroom of biblical learning and sharing. It is this ministry’s way of teaching biblical Truths and sharing the message of the kingdom of God. I would hope and pray that more people participate and share this site with others as we challenge religious myths, expose theological lies, illuminate truth, expand Bible knowledge, answer some of our deepest concerns about salvation and rediscover biblical Christianity.

Thank you so much for your continuous support.

Today’s Question:

We have heard it said by a number of professed Christians that “The LORD dealt with me to save me” or  that “The LORD dealt with me to deliver me from sin.”  The implication  is that God laden them with trouble and hardships in order for them to get saved.  But is this God’s way?  Is there any reference in the New Testament that says that The Lord “Deals” with sinners to save them?

The answer for today’s Bible Challenge Question is: “No!”  Every human creature has freewill to either choose God’s Way or the way of Damnation.  God is not known to force anyone to be saved by “dealing with them” or manipulating their circumstances to force them to repent.  It is Satan and our sin and willful disobedience that crushes us and “deals” with us in a harsh manner.  Our Love for God must be genuine, freely given and in response to His Love for us demonstrated through Christ Jesus on the cross.

Satan deals with us.  Sin deals with us.  Our flesh deals with us.  Our sinful desires and perverted imaginations deals with us.  Our selfish ambitions deals with us.  Our religions and denominations deals with us but God never deals with us except to keep us who are already saved from becoming proud or conceited. ( 2 Corinthians 12:7)

Today’s Question:

“Are there any people in the Bible specifically identified as being black in complexion or skin tone?” If yes, please give scripture reference.

The answer for today’s Bible Challenge Question is:

The Bible does not specifically identify any person as being black-skinned. The Bible also does not specifically identify any person as being white-skinned. The vast majority of the Bible took place in the Middle East, in and around Israel. Neither “black” nor “white” people are common in these regions. The vast majority of the people in the Bible were “Semitic,” light to dark brown in complexion. Ultimately, it does not matter what skin color the people in the Bible had. Skin color is meaningless in the message of the Bible. We all need to take our eyes off of the skin and focus on the soul.

Some scholars guess that Moses’ wife Zipporah might have been black since she was a Cushite (
Numbers 12:1). Cush is an ancient name for an area of Africa. The Shulammite may have been black (Song of Solomon 1:5). Some propose that Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11:3) was black. Some believe that the Queen of Sheba who visited Solomon (1 Kings 10:1) was black. The Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:37 may have been a black man. Ethiopians are mentioned about 40 times in the Bible, and the Prophet Jeremiah asked, “Can the Ethiopian change his skin …” (Jeremiah 13:23). “Simeon called Niger” in Acts 13:1 may have been black. The Bible, though, does not specifically say that any of these people were black.

Today’s Question:

Is there a verse in the Bible that commands Christians to pray/bless the food before eating, or is this just tradition? (A Command or a Tradition?) If it is a command, please give scriptural reference where command is plainly stated.

The answer for today’s Bible Challenge Question is:

I know of no single scripture which teaches- “thou shall pray over every meal.”
However, there are many examples of Jesus giving thanks for food before it was eaten.
Matthew 14:19; John 6:11; Luke 22:17-19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-24 also can be found Jesus teaching his disciples how to pray…… “give us this day our daily bread”. (Matthew 6:11)
