Today’s Question:

There were some believers who had repented and had been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus and had received the Holy Spirit but had brought their old religious legalistic prejudices and traditions with them. They held taught the non-Jewish believers that they had to be circumcised in order to be saved. However, this teaching was not authorized by Christ or His Apostles.

Paul and Barnabas went up to Jerusalem before the Apostles and Elders (Bishops) to have a hearing on the question of Circumcision and Moses’ Law being a requirement for salvation (The hearing was not about the Eternal the Ten Commandments). During the hearing in the assembly at Jerusalem, Paul and Barnabas reported about the miracles and wonders that God had done among the non-Jewish population. Apostle Peter testified also of how God had confirmed His acceptance of non-Jewish believers by giving them the irrefutable evidence of the Hoy Spirit (Acts 10:44-47).

After everyone had finished testifying, I then spoke and testified that the Words of Peter, Barnabas and Paul were confirmed by the prophets and that we should not make it difficult for the non-Jewish population who are turning to God. Who am I?

Special Memo:

This is the last Bible Scholar Question for a while (an estimated two weeks) and I wanted you to know that I appreciate your faithfulness and devotion in participating in the early morning Bible Challenges and Studies (The Bible Scholars Group).

Please don’t hesitate to keep in touch. I will still post on my blog from time to time as the Lord leads. And please remember to keep me in your prayers as I will keep you in mine.

But before I leave I would like to invite you to consider being a guest host on my online radio talk show. I’d rather have someone I am familiar with and who is familiar with me and what I believe- God’s Ordained Plan of Salvation. That way I’d know the exchange will be lively, informative and blessed.

The upcoming topic for discussion is taken from my podcast entitled “Stop Getting Drunk on Junk” which is no longer available online but will be aired on the broadcast. It discusses the problem of erroneous and irrelevant sermons from the pulpit and challenges all believers to stop being intoxicated off of emotionalism and intellectualism and seek the Truth of the Saving Gospel of God in Christ. Surely, someone has something to say regarding this topic and I would like for you to have the opportunity to say it.

Please contact me at owprince@gmail.com if you think that you would like to be a call-in guest host.

I am scheduling a practice broadcast soon so call ASAP. The Practice Broadcast will not be aired but we can use it to workout the kinks and make you more comfortable.

Thank you so much for your consideration and cooperation.

Keep Looking Up!

Today’s Question:

A lot of evangelists and preachers, especially the crusade type evangelists, teach that Jesus has done it all and that there is nothing for us to do in order to be saved other than to “receive” what Jesus has already done. They often describe themselves as leading a sinner to Christ. They tell the sinner that all they have to do is “receive” the finished work of Christ.

Is this sound doctrine? Is this what the Apostles of Christ taught? Where is this illustrated (Shown to have happened) in Holy Scripture?

————————————————————-

The answer for today’s Bible Challenge Question is: No!

This is neither sound doctrine nor was it taught by Christ or His Apostles. No one was ever saved just by [Receiving] accepting the message of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. The Apostles taught belief [trust, obedience, submissiveness, surrender] to God through Christ Jesus and that Jesus is the Son of God. They taught how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him…They taught about their witness of His death, burial and resurrection and of how the prophets foretold of Him…They taught that to receive Christ one had to Repent, be Baptized in water in the name of Jesus Christ For the Forgiveness of Sin and that God would give them the promised gift and sign of their acceptance by giving them the Holy Spirit that would empower them to speak with other tongues. All of this is well documented and illustrated throughout Holy Scripture.

No one was considered saved simply because they “received Christ” or “gave their lives to Christ” or “professed Christ.” They must act upon what God has commanded and God has commanded that everyone be born of the Water and of the Spirit in order to be born again and enter into the Kingdom of God. God has commanded that in order to be born again and added to His Church, one must:

  1. Repent (Die to sin),
  2. Be baptized in water (Buried with Christ) in the name of Jesus Christ
  3. And receive the gift of the Holy Spirit that will make Himself known by empowering one to speak in other tongues.

Without these three witnesses, there is no salvation. (ref. 1 John 5:6-8)

The early Christian Church understood faith, the gift of the Spirit, and water baptism in Jesus’ name as One continuous Unified Salvation Experience. (1 John 5:8if any one of these components were absent then salvation was also absent.

Therefore, it is wrong to tell someone that they are saved simply by “receiving Christ” or believing in Christ.  The demons believe and tremble

Today’s Question:

When did legitimate divorce itself become a sin? What scripture condemns a legitimately divorced person who has remarried? Please answer both questions.

————————————————————-

The answer for today’s Bible Challenge Question is:

Legitimate divorce is not named a “Sin” in the Bible nor is the remarriage of a legitimately divorced person condemned. Please read the following:

(The Following was recorded from BibleTools.org/ ‘”What Does the Bible Teach Regarding Divorce?”)

God instituted marriage when He made a wife for Adam (Genesis 2:18). He instructed that a man should leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, becoming one flesh with her (verse 24). God’s will is for marriage to last for life—with each partner loving, honoring, caring for, and cleaving to the other just as Christ loves and cares for His church (Ephesians 5:25). The Bible teaches the sacredness of marital vows (Matthew 19:6; Mark 10:9; Romans 7:2-3; Hebrews 13:4).

However, we live in an imperfect world beset by human weakness, “hardness of heart,” unfaithfulness, wickedness, irresponsibility, and all such things. People sin. Divorce occurs, even though God hates it, for it is a treacherous abandonment of the marriage covenant (Malachi 2:14-16).

What does one do if he or she has already been divorced? When a person truely repents and is converted according to God’s Holy Scriptures, all his past sins are forgiven (Acts 2:38; Psalm 103:1-3, 10-12). Any past illegitmate divorce would be included, and the person would be free to marry again but only to another within the church – ONE BORN OF THE WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT (II Corinthians 6:14; see Deuteronomy 7:1-4; 22:10).

What of those already converted? Paul wrote that those who have been divorced (“loosed”) from an unbelieving mate do not sin if they marry (I Corinthians 7:27-28). Again, a converted person should marry within the church – THOSE BORN AGAIN ACCORDING TO THE HOLY SCRIPTURES.

Paul was also inspired to write that a converted person must not leave or divorce a mate who is pleased to continue the marriage (verses 10-13). To divorce a faithful mate and marry another is adultery (Matthew 19:9). Divorce and remarriage is not sanctioned once God has entered the marriage and bound the couple for life (Matthew 5:32).

Although the unconverted world cannot receive God’s teaching, all who are Christ’s ought to obey Him implicitly, not only in refraining from divorce, but also in using all their resources to build a truly loving relationship (Ephesians 5:22-31; I Peter 3:1-7). Our earthly marriages ought to picture the great love relationship between Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:32; see Revelation 19:7-9).
