Today’s Sabbath Message / “It’s Just A Performance”

Just as there are gospel “performers,” just as there are “entertainers,” just as there are “trained and gifted actors” and well “rehearsed” poets, there are also “sermon performers,” “entertaining preachers,” “trained and gifted pastors” and well rehearsed gospel messengers. They just perform their expected roles to perfection. They dress the part and speak their lines convincingly. They are well trained and gifted entertainers, motivators and captivators. They were not sent by God neither do they have a genuine Word from God. They are imitators like their father the devil. They are deceivers and liars just like their father Satan. They do not know God for they are not known by God (Matthew 7:21-23). And by their lies they murder innocent unsuspecting souls.

“They belong to their father, the devil, and their purpose is to carry out their father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. And they are just like him” (John 8:44)

Jesus says to “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)

The Apostles taught that we should “watch out for those who cause divisions (denominations/separation) and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that we have been taught by Christ and His Apostles and that we should avoid them.” (Romans 16:17)

The Word of God Is The Only Truth That We Need For Salvation. God’s Commandment And Plan Of Salvation Through Christ Jesus Is the Only Way To Be Saved (John 3:3-7, Acts 2:38). The Example Of Christ Jesus And His Apostles Is The Only Example We Should Follow (Philippians 2, 1 John 2:6). Anybody Who Practices, Preaches Or Teaches Contrary To What God’s Word In Christ And His Apostles Have Taught Is A False Prophet And The Truth Is Not In Him Or Her.

False teacher_ joel-osteen-preaching-Bible

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by DEVOTING themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared” (1 Timothy 4:1-2)

It is shocking and disturbing that so many people are willingly devoting themselves, their families and their resources to the churches of Satan and his false preachers. There is a type of idolatry taking place in Christendom today that is disguised as Christian worship i.e. it is dressed up in “Sheep’s Clothing.” Many professed Christians have been deceived into worshipping false gods and doctrines of demons (Matthew 24:24).

The entertaining preaching personality has become the object (Idol) of  worship and adoration. God and His Eternal Commandments (WORD) have been mocked, derided and suspended as outdated, old-fashioned and not applicable to modern Christians.

Jeremiah spoke of this very same thing. He said, “An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; MY PEOPLE LOVE TO HAVE IT SO, BUT WHAT WILL YOU DO WHEN THE END COMES?” (Jeremiah 5:30-31)

That is the question that many professed Christians who have devoted themselves to false preachers and doctrines of demons will have to answer.

It still is a mystery to me how we can never make time to fellowship with each other until someone dies. Only then do we seem to make the time to visit the funeral home, visit the family home, arrive one hour early to the funeral services and spend another hour eating up the after-funeral meal.

Let’s be honest. We make time for anything we want to make time for. We make time to gossip for hours on the phone and in the street. We make time to get our hair and nails done even if it takes all day and a bunch of money. We make time to go out for an evening [and some of us don’t return until the next evening.] We make the time and spend the money to attend sporting events, movies, plays, comedy clubs, sorority and fraternity meetings and conventions. We take time to hurt other people and put them down and spread rumors about them. We make the time to get our cigarettes, alcohol, beer, wine and recreational drugs. We take the time to detail our cars and trucks. As a matter of fact, we make the time to do just about whatever it is we want to do whenever we want to do it and for however long we want to do it.

But we just can’t seem to find the time to spend in fellowship with one another or with our LORD. (Hebrews 10:25)

How we spend our time is as important as how we spend our money. It tells who and what is really of value and importance to us. Therefore, spend your time wisely for tomorrow’s not promised to anyone and today is the only time that you have.

Exodus 20:8-11

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.”

Matthew 12:8-12

“For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath… Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Sabbath day Remember by keeping it

The Sabbath is a day of rest from Labor.  The Sabbath, however, is not to be a day of idleness.

The Hebrew word translated “labor” in Exodus 20:9 is abad.  It means “to do”, “to work”, “to serve.” But who are we allowed to serve? What are we allowed to do on the seventh day of the week?

The answer is “Six days shalt thou labor (serve) and do thy work.” In other words, you may serve your own interests for six days each week; but on the seventh day – the Sabbath – you must stop serving your own interests and devote that day to the service of the Almighty. Why? Because that is His holy day; it has been set apart for His service and His work.

But what is God’s work and how may we become engaged in it?  We find our answer in the Scriptures.

It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day (Matthew 12:12, Mark 3:4, Matthew 12:10-12)

  • Matthew 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
  • Matthew 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
  • Matthew 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days.
  • Mark 3:4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day! The LORD of the Sabbath has said so.

Another question that we ask ourselves is that: “Is lawful to engage in worship activities on the Sabbath, such as: attending worship services and religious meetings, preaching and teaching Holy Scriptures, holding prayer meetings, visiting the sick, homebound and aged, witnessing about the Gospel of the Holy Messiah in the community, helping and rescuing those in distress, etc.. (Luke 4:31, 6:1-2)

  • Luke 4:31 tells us that Jesus came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath day.
  • Luke 6:1-7  says that “it came to pass on the second Sabbath after the first, that he – Jesus – went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands. And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath days? Jesus answered them, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions. Then Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

The fact is that David’s behavior was not frowned upon by the High Priest or Religious Leaders and someone greater than David is here.

But even the Savior’s performance was not up to the standards of the self-righteous religious leaders of his day.  They still desired to find fault in him and accuse him of breaking the LAW of God.

Therefore, who are we to expect a better assessment of ourselves on the Sabbath Day by those who hold a narrow, legalistic, dogmatic and uninformed view of the Fourth Commandment?

I recommend the text blow, seeing that it offers some very sound advice about how to keep the Seventh-Day Sabbath Holy.

If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” (Isaiah 58:13-14)

Conclusion: Seeing that Christ established his Lordship over the Sabbath and revealed, through his own example, the true Spirit of Sabbath observance and remembrance, I contend that one must have the Holy Spirit of Christ dwelling in them in order to be empowered to keep the Sabbath. (Romans 8:9)

Furthermore, no one need make remembering and observing the Sabbath a legalistic Pharisaic chore, task or doctrine for salvation. This is a Spiritual relationship issue, not a legal issue. (John 14:26)

Jesus taught that keeping the Spirit of the Law is more important than keeping the letter of the Law.

Therefore, let the Spirit of Christ that dwells in us direct us on how we must observe the Sabbath, convicting us of what we must not do on God’s Holy Day as well as teaching us what we ought to do in remembrance of the Sabbath.

“Remember” / This Week’s Word and Prayer for June 03, 2013

Psalm 103

In today’s world, many are keenly conscious of those “benefits” associated with their employment. What sort of insurance do I have? What is my retirement package, etc.? But how frequently do we contemplate the “benefits” of our loving Father?

In Psalms 103:1-5, we are admonished to remember five marvelous “benefits” of being loved and cared for by God. They are expressed with the following verbs: forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, and satisfies. Let us reflect upon these promises.

Today’s Question:

There were some believers who had repented and had been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus and had received the Holy Spirit but had brought their old religious legalistic prejudices and traditions with them. They held taught the non-Jewish believers that they had to be circumcised in order to be saved. However, this teaching was not authorized by Christ or His Apostles.

Paul and Barnabas went up to Jerusalem before the Apostles and Elders (Bishops) to have a hearing on the question of Circumcision and Moses’ Law being a requirement for salvation (The hearing was not about the Eternal the Ten Commandments). During the hearing in the assembly at Jerusalem, Paul and Barnabas reported about the miracles and wonders that God had done among the non-Jewish population. Apostle Peter testified also of how God had confirmed His acceptance of non-Jewish believers by giving them the irrefutable evidence of the Hoy Spirit (Acts 10:44-47).

After everyone had finished testifying, I then spoke and testified that the Words of Peter, Barnabas and Paul were confirmed by the prophets and that we should not make it difficult for the non-Jewish population who are turning to God. Who am I?

The upcoming topic for discussion is taken from my podcast entitled “Stop Getting Drunk on Junk” which is no longer available online but will be aired on the broadcast. It discusses the problem of erroneous and irrelevant sermons from the pulpit and challenges all believers to stop being intoxicated off of emotionalism and intellectualism and seek the Truth of the Saving Gospel of God in Christ. Surely, someone has something to say regarding this topic and I would like for you to have the opportunity to say it.

Please contact me at if you think that you would like to be a call-in guest host.

I am scheduling a practice broadcast soon so call ASAP. The Practice Broadcast will not be aired but we can use it to workout the kinks and make you more comfortable.

Today’s Question:

When did legitimate divorce itself become a sin? What scripture condemns a legitimately divorced person who has remarried? Please answer both questions.

The answer for today’s Bible Challenge Question is:

Legitimate divorce is not named a “Sin” in the Bible nor is the remarriage of a legitimately divorced person condemned. Please read the following:

(The Following was recorded from ‘”What Does the Bible Teach Regarding Divorce?”)

God instituted marriage when He made a wife for Adam (Genesis 2:18). He instructed that a man should leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, becoming one flesh with her (verse 24). God’s will is for marriage to last for life—with each partner loving, honoring, caring for, and cleaving to the other just as Christ loves and cares for His church (Ephesians 5:25). The Bible teaches the sacredness of marital vows (Matthew 19:6; Mark 10:9; Romans 7:2-3; Hebrews 13:4).

However, we live in an imperfect world beset by human weakness, “hardness of heart,” unfaithfulness, wickedness, irresponsibility, and all such things. People sin. Divorce occurs, even though God hates it, for it is a treacherous abandonment of the marriage covenant (Malachi 2:14-16).

What does one do if he or she has already been divorced? When a person truely repents and is converted according to God’s Holy Scriptures, all his past sins are forgiven (Acts 2:38; Psalm 103:1-3, 10-12). Any past illegitmate divorce would be included, and the person would be free to marry again but only to another within the church – ONE BORN OF THE WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT (II Corinthians 6:14; see Deuteronomy 7:1-4; 22:10).

What of those already converted? Paul wrote that those who have been divorced (“loosed”) from an unbelieving mate do not sin if they marry (I Corinthians 7:27-28). Again, a converted person should marry within the church – THOSE BORN AGAIN ACCORDING TO THE HOLY SCRIPTURES.

Paul was also inspired to write that a converted person must not leave or divorce a mate who is pleased to continue the marriage (verses 10-13). To divorce a faithful mate and marry another is adultery (Matthew 19:9). Divorce and remarriage is not sanctioned once God has entered the marriage and bound the couple for life (Matthew 5:32).

Although the unconverted world cannot receive God’s teaching, all who are Christ’s ought to obey Him implicitly, not only in refraining from divorce, but also in using all their resources to build a truly loving relationship (Ephesians 5:22-31; I Peter 3:1-7). Our earthly marriages ought to picture the great love relationship between Christ and the church (Ephesians 5:32; see Revelation 19:7-9).

This article is our seventh in our series on the Ten Commandments and has been abbreviated for posting. Be sure to read and study all the scriptures quoted.

Ten Commandments 7 ADULTERY a

In the previous Bible studies, we have been covering the commandments that safeguard the incredible sacredness of human relationships and human life. The Fifth Commandment protects the government that God established in the home: “Honor thy father and thy mother ….” This commandment also preserves the parent and child relationship. The Sixth Commandment safeguards human life: “Thou shalt not [murder].”

The Seventh Commandment protects the most vital human relationship—that of husband and wife.

From Mount Sinai, our Creator commanded: “Thou shalt not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14). Almighty God gave this commandment to protect the honor and sanctity of marriage. The married state is the highest earthly relationship possible for human beings. The wording of the commandment directly forbids adultery. The sin of adultery violates the sacred rights granted by the marriage relationship. This means that the commandment forbids any use of sex outside of marriage. Premarital sex is a grievous wrong done to a future marriage. God considers it unfaithfulness prior to marriage.

Although our free-for-all society refuses to recognize it, the Creator [YHVH] has a lot to say about the use of sex. God designed sex and He set in motion a great law to regulate its use. Adultery and fornication are capital sins—demanding capital punishment. God told Moses this while the nation of Israel was encamped at Sinai: “And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death” (Leviticus 20:10). Men may try to reason around it, but adultery is a grave sin. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul stated, “For the wages of sin is death …” (Romans 6:23). Paul means eternal death. When a person continues a life of sin—like adultery—without repentance, that individual faces God’s judgment in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).

Why does the sin of adultery call for such a severe punishment? God considers adultery such an awful sin because of the incredible purpose He planned for marriage. In our sophisticated, supposedly educated world, we have forgotten that the word holy should be associated with marriage and the use of sex in marriage. Men, women and children must come to understand the sacred meaning of marriage.

God’s Purposes for Marriage

To fully understand marriage, humans must not leave God out of the equation. Yet, our educational system does just that.

Millions of young people attending high schools, colleges and universities are taught science, math, language and history all based on the false theory of evolution. Evolution is simply man’s explanation of a creation without a creator. When will the brightest minds wake up to the understanding that the theory of evolution degrades both God and man? Man is not an animal. He is unique, created for an astounding purpose.

In God’s plan, marriage and man’s incredible human potential are closely connected. It is time for every human being to acknowledge that sex and marriage are God-designed and God-ordained. To do so, we must go to Genesis. When we clear our mind of all prejudice and let the truth speak to us, it is awesome what is revealed.

Mankind is made in God’s likeness and image (Genesis 1:26). The word likeness shows that we carry the same shape and bodily features as God—only physical. The word image refers to God’s character. During this mortal life, God intends that we build and reflect His righteous, holy character.

Moses gives us details of Adam and Eve’s creation in Genesis 2. He wrote, “And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him” (verse 18). The scriptural record shows that God brought Adam to life first. However, God knew that Adam was incomplete in himself—it was not good that he was alone! Therefore, God decided to create a help meet, or suitable one, for him. God intended to create another human being that Adam could truly share his life with.

Notice that God drives this important point home for us. After Adam’s creation, God put Adam to work, requiring him to name the newly created animals. Adam saw firsthand the wonderfully designed pairing of the cattle, birds and other living creatures. “But for Adam there was not found an help meet for him” (verse 20). There was no other creature like Adam. He recognized immediately that he was alone—no one to talk with. There was no creature capable of sharing his hopes, dreams, joys and sorrows.

God then did something incredibly miraculous. He caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep and created a woman . This is not Hebrew myth—it is the revealed truth of God! God took that which was within Adam and created a new creature suitable for Adam. When Adam saw this creature, he was truly elated. He said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man” (verse 23). Although Adam was created from the dust of the ground, Eve was not. She was molded and shaped from Adam’s own flesh. This fact carries deep meaning (Ephesians 5:22-33). Here was another human being who could share life with Adam. She was created to help Adam by being his wife and companion.

When presenting Eve to Adam, God said specifically, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). This verse proves that GOD instituted marriage—not man or the laws of man! Only God’s laws preserve and give honor to marriage.  Only God defines what is a marriage and what is not.

God made man male and female (Genesis 1:27). God designed and created sex as a beautiful and holy thing. After the creation of man, Moses recorded, “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good (Genesis 1:31). God viewed the creation of sex in humans as very good. There is nothing shameful about God’s intended purposes for sex (Genesis 2:25). In fact, the proper use of sex—solely reserved for marriage—actually brings glory to God (1 Corinthians 6:20).

Making Man Complete

A primary purpose for sex and marriage is to make man and woman complete. Each is incomplete without the other. Adam alone was not able to fulfill the purpose for which God created him. He was not able to learn the vital lessons of building godly character without the woman God created to assist him.

At the time of our first parents’ creation, it is clear that God intended Adam and Eve to live together as husband and wife. Of course, that meant bodily union. The use of sex in marriage is not sin. Adam and Eve were meant to share everything in this life. They were to grow together and become one in mind and purpose. Building a happy, mutually supportive marriage would have given them a physical completeness they would not have experienced otherwise.

A second purpose of sex and marriage is for building a family. God told Adam and Eve: “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth …” (Genesis 1:28). With the birth of children comes the serious responsibility of protecting and teaching them. A stable, happy marriage is the key to a happy and stable home. A stable home-life is the only right way to properly nurture a child. God commands all couples, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). People in our fast-paced, materialistic society have become so self-centered that children are criminally neglected. Children are often left to themselves while parents pursue their own selfish goals.

Both parents are responsible for the supervision and education of their children. God charges the father with the overall responsibility to see to the needs of his wife and family (Ephesians 6:4). However, the wife must shoulder the daily care and training of children. She is the God-created helper to her husband, and this most definitely includes his children. A woman can only achieve the true happiness God intended for her by embracing her God-ordained role as wife, mother and homemaker. This is not the teaching of a man or men. God commands that young women be taught “to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed” (Titus 2:4-5). We cannot take family lightly and claim to be righteous. God the Father and Christ our savior put prime importance on family. So must all men and women. Amen!
