Acts 4 salvation in none else

Acts 18:24-28 King James Version (KJV)

24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

Acts 18:24-28 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

24 Meanwhile, a Jewish man named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent speaker with a thorough knowledge of the Tanakh.25 This man had been informed about the Way of the Lord, and with great spiritual fervor he spoke and taught accurately the facts about Yeshua, but he knew only the immersion of Yochanan. 26 He began to speak out boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the Way of God in fuller detail.27 When he made plans to cross over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote the talmidim there to welcome him. On arrival, he greatly helped those who through grace had come to trust; 28 for he powerfully and conclusively refuted the unbelieving Jews in public, demonstrating by the Tanakh that Yeshua is the Messiah.

Even the well versed, the well spoken, the well educated and biblically intelligent believer may be shown a more excellent and perfect way by those who were baptized in the name of the Holy Messiah and empowered with the gift of the Holy Spirit as promised by God and evidenced by the speaking in tongue.

By all accounts, Apollos was a believer in Christ who effectively and accurately taught about Christ Jesus. However, he lacked something essential to His salvation and saving knowledge. But to his credit, he was not so egotistical as to think himself above receiving instruction and correction from two tent makers. And the husband and wife evangelical team of Aquila and Priscilla expounded unto him the way of God and salvation more perfectly than he had known before. And after his encounter with them, wherein it is believed that he was baptized in the name of Christ and was gifted with the Holy Spirit, his teaching became even more effective in showing that Yehowshua was the Messiah.

Although the Holy Scripture is missing the record of Apollos’ baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, it is relatively easy to extrapolate from other historical scriptural accounts that Apollos was in deed baptized in the name of Christ Jesus and received the Holy Spirit while with Aquila and Priscilla. He was shown the more perfect way. (John 3:3-7 and Acts 2:38)

In the very next chapter of Acts – Acts 19:1-7- it is recorded that there were about twelve men who, like Apollos, had only been baptized unto John’s baptism. Then Paul showed them a more excellent way and they were baptized in the name of the Lord Yehowshua Ha’ Mashiach. And the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

It is not a coincidence that Acts 19:1-7 follows Apollos’ life-changing encounter with Aquila and Priscilla (Acts 18:24-28).  To the contrary, it is a strong indication that the believers in Christ who had only been baptized unto John’s baptism were taught and encouraged to be baptized again in the name of Christ Jesus in order for them to fulfill all righteousness and receive the promised gift of God.

May those who have ears to hear, hear what the Spirit is saying unto the Church.

The Master's Table

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land? “While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” And as he heard these words, Ananias fell down and breathed his last. (Acts 5:3-5)

There are severe consequences to lying.

When we purposely lie to an authorized representative of civil or federal law in an attempt to deceive, it is called a crime and there are dire consequences.

When we purposely lie to a divinely authorized and Holy Spirit filled representative of Almighty God, it is called sin and there are dire consequences. For the wages of sin is death.

A Crumb From The Master’s Table

The Master's Table

So the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.” Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.  – Zechariah 4:5-6

We who are empowered with the Holy Spirit are stronger than we think.

We belong to God. We have already won the victory because the Holy Spirit who lives in us is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. (Ref. 1 John 4:4)

Therefore, we are more than conquerors through him who loves us. (Ref. Roman 8:37)

Proverbs 31:30

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”

We live in a world that worships the human body and celebrates physical beauty.

Do You Think That Your Looks Are Exceptionally Beautiful? Have You Allowed The Media And Others To Brainwash You Into Accepting Their Definition Of What Is Beautiful And Worthy Of Praise And What Is Not?

Many Have Been Deceived By The Spirit Of Vanity. Self-importance Has Consumed Countless Numbers Of Church Folks. Many Spend More Time And Money On Their Physical Appearance Than They Do On Their Relationship With God.  In Many Of Our Fellowships, Worship Services Have Become A Fashion Show Where Some Come To Display Their Fashion Sense, Their Hairdos And Other Worldly Trappings Of Beauty And Prosperity. However, These Things Do Not Impress God.

The Physical Appearance Or Condition Of Our Bodies Are Only Temporary.  We Should Remember That We Are Only One Bad Illness Away From Looking Like A Wreck. Be Careful Not To Put Your Trust In Your Physical Appearance. If You Live Long Enough, It Will Change. But The Heart (Soul) That Honors And Obeys God Is Eternally Praised.
