7 Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. – Genesis 2:7 (NIV)

1 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. 2 Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, 3 because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. 4 For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7 For we live by faith [Trust and Obedience], not by sight [human understanding and reason] . 8 We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. – 2 Corinthians 5:1-10 (NIV)

“We are not bodies with souls.  We are souls with bodies”

It appears that this generation has become addicted to the flesh.  Carnality, humanism and materialism have taken over.  Our values seem to be based in things that will not and cannot last.  We have lost sight of eternity if in deed we ever had it.  Temporary passions of the flesh and the deadly pleasures of worldly indulgences have consumed the souls of many would-be Christians.  Many have deceived themselves into thinking that they are going to go to heaven when they die although they practiced immorality when they lived.  They have forgotten the eternal rule of labor and wages that says, You get what you work for and you work for what you get.  They have also forgotten their identity.

Allow me to expound a little further.

We are not bodies with souls.  We are souls with bodies.  Souls are eternal because God who breathed it is Eternal.  Now the spirit makes up a soul and determines its character/personality.  Thus, a body without a soul is dead.

I would have you to know also that A Soul without God’s Holy Spirit is dead.  This is what Jesus meant when he said, “Let the dead bury their own dead” (Matthew 8:22 & John 3:18).

Thus, we all need God’s Holy Spirit in order to become heirs to eternal life – we need to be born again.  Or else we face the dreadful prospect of eternal damnation in hell and the lake of fire where the smoke of torment ascends forever and ever; and there is no rest day or night and the worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.

Therefore, I beg of everyone who reads this:

“Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” … “Be saved from this perverse generation!” – Acts 2:38-40 (NASB)

Again I say,

REPENT!
