Gracious and loving God, I ask your grace and strength for those of us who daily care for the needs of Alzheimer’s Dementia patients.
It is our assignment to love and care for someone who has dementia, who is losing her memory, her judgment, her ability to function in ordinary ways. And we are most aware of our own inadequacies and insufficiencies in accomplishing this assignment. We need your help everyday and every hour and every moment. We need you now!
You are the God who promises that even if our father or mother forgets us you will remember us. You are the God whose judgments are always righteous and true and your power is made perfect in our weakness.
As we move through the duties and difficulties of the day, please forgive us for becoming impatient at times and overwhelmed. Please enlighten our minds and lighten our hearts by your supportive grace. Fill us with your SPIRIT of wisdom, longsuffering, courage, strength, patience and forgiveness.
Make us worthy of the task to which you have called us. And help us to remember the promise of Matthew 25:31-46.
As we minister to our Alzheimer’s Dementia patients, help us to hear and receive their reminder to us that we all need a Savior who looks beyond our own demented souls and diseased moral character and sacrificed Himself for us to wash away our sins and be our advocate before the FATHER.
And FATHER, as the MESSIAH so loved us, empower us to love one another, especially our brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers who suffer from Alzheimer’s Dementia.
It is in the HOLY name of the MESSIAH we pray…
