Let me tell you how smart, sleek and ingeniously clever the devil is.
[The pronouns used in this post are meant to be understood as referring to the devil and his ministers.]
“She” will ease up to you and pretend to be interested in being your friend. Now once she become your friend or once she has your confidence or once she has gained your attention, she then begins to go to work on you.
“He” will patiently listen to your most private thoughts and encourage you in your most tearful times. He will be there for you whenever you need him.”
“They” will give you money, stroke your ego and take your side in a disagreement, especially if it brings them closer to you.
“She” has no real concern for righteousness or your soul. Her main concern is to manipulate you into accepting her as your friend. It is only a bonus for her, if in the process of her deception, you fall in love with her and take her as a lover, a comforter and a companion.
We barely, if ever, notice the subtle way in which she is always agreeing with us whether we are right or wrong. We barely, if ever, notice the way she has made us see life through her eyes; adopting her attitudes towards parents, laws, God, Salvation, Obedience, Purity, Blessings, Heaven, Hell, Righteousness and the genuine fear of God. We barely, if ever, realize how far we have drifted away from our God, our godly parental example, our moral consciousness, our sense of honor and respect for our parents and elders and those who would gladly lay down their lives for us.
Yes! We barely, if ever, notice the changes that have taken place in our lives, in our nature and in our character because of our relationship with her. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Yes! The devil is powerfully deceptive and he has had millennia and time immemorial to perfect his skills, talents and lying nature. God created him and gifted him with matchless beauty, wisdom and knowledge. He was one of the bright morning stars numbered around the throng of God. The Bible says that he transformed himself into an angel of light. She is never who she appears to be.
One of Satan’s most insidious attacks and deceptions is to turn a heaven bound soldier into a hell bound sinner by pretending to be their friend.
He does this subtly through our human need for companionship; through those whom we love; through those whom we trust; through those whose opinions we value, through those whose company we keep.
Let’s be honest about this. Without God’s help, it is virtually impossible to distinguish between friend and enemy.
Now I can’t speak for you but I am not as smart as the devil. I need God. I need a savior! I need the One who created the devil to protect me from the devil. And I know that His protection Is Sure. His Blood Has Never Lost Its Power. His Name Is A Shelter for the Righteous. He can’t be defeated! He never fails! His very Word is so powerful that when He speaks, His Word produces His will and always returns to Him fulfilled.
If you want the Word of God to dwell in you richly, if you want access to the most powerful weapon known to man, if you want a superb lie detector, a deception destroyer and a life protector and eternal soul keeper, then I strongly recommend Christ Jesus our Lord!
[Pray this prayer with me.]
“Lord please forgive us when we choose friends that lead us away from you. Please forgive our trespasses. We want you, our Father, to choose our friends for us for you know who is best for us. Help us to live so that we may be the godly choice that someone else may choose for their friend. In Jesus’ name. Amen!”
