The Lord said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37) Jesus said, “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:37) And Apostle Paul taught and said, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1)
We are commanded to love God with ALL we have and with ALL that we possess. We are not to love anything or anybody more than we love God. We are not to love our mothers, fathers and children more than we love God. This is a hard saying but true. We are not even to love ourselves or our own happiness and ambitions more than we love God. We are to live as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. This is only appropriate since God sacrificed himself for us. (John 3:16)
Now knowing this, can you truly say that you love God?
