“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
There are some really hurt and damaged souls out there who have been injured beyond measure.
We try to press on with a smile and treat everybody right. But the truth is …we have been robbed of all of our patience, passion confidence and trust. We endure the rhetoric and advice of those who mean well when they say, “Get over it” or “Move on” or “You will find happiness again” or “Time will heal all wounds.” We try to follow the advice of those who mean well but we know inside ourselves that only God can heal the hurt we have and only God understands the depth and extent of our sorrows.
We have been too trusting in the past and now we don’t trust anybody but God.
We have given too many of the wrong people the benefit of our unfettered love and now we reframe from putting ourselves at risk ever again.
We have invested too much of our time, energy, health, finances, hopes and dreams into somebody who only used us for their pleasure and advantage.
Now we are used, abused, tattered, torn, angry, hurt and a danger to be around. We have been hardened by circumstances and calloused by grief.
We don’t want to be this way. We want to know true, trusting loyal companionship. If you only knew us before the enemy abused us, maybe you would have loved us. But as things are today, we are wretched creatures disguised with a smile and hallelujah and only God know our hearts.
We want to love and be loved but the damage has been done and regardless of how hard we try, we just cannot get pass our old scars and injuries. They are too deep and debilitating for mortal man to overcome alone.
However, The Lord is acquainted with our sufferings, griefs and woes. He knows and understands our pains and sorrows. God is our only refuge and comfort. In him we know we are loved. In Him we can trust and never doubt. In Him we are loved in spite of and not because of anything He needs from us. In Him we have the hope of being restored to wholeness and wholesomeness. In Him we have a savior and a friend. We have someone who will not lie to us or steal from us or use us and abuse us.
The world sought to kill us. Friends sinned with us then talked about us. Family deserted us. Lovers and Spouses were unfaithful to us. But God never gave up on us.
Our Story is Simple and Plain and Our Experiences Attest to the Truth that…
“Life Hurts but God Heals!”
