“Faith Defined” – A Divine Revelation / The Sabbath Day Message for March 2, 2013

faith (1)

To discover the definition of “faith we must first look at the author and personification of “faith.”

As the Messiah and the living Word of God, Jesus (Yehowshua) appealed to the soul of each individual to repent based upon His proclaimed Truth and the integrity of His Word.

Yehowshua wanted listeners to Hear His Word, Trust His Word, Surrender to His Word, Obey His Word, Depend upon His Word and Keep His Word (The Holy Eternal Commandments and Moral LAW of YHVH). For these are the very elements of the definition ofFAITH.

To Have “FAITH” is to have one or all of these elements in your life operating in your response to God’s Word and His promises. If you do not, you do not have faith and you cannot please God.

“Consequently, Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through [trusting, surrendering, obeying, depending on and keeping] the word of Christ.” (Rm. 10:17)

“And without Faith [trusting, surrendering, obeying, depending on and keeping the Word of Christ] it is impossible to please him…” (Hebrew 11:6)

In the absence of physical or human evidence, Faith is assurance, hope and conviction in Christ (Hebrews 11:1-6).

Faith is personal and spiritual.

“For God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

And those who walked by Faith did so because of what they heard, trusted, surrendered to, obeyed, depended upon and kept – not because of what they saw, thought, felt or could prove. (Hebrews 11)

Neither Jesus nor His Apostles ever resorted to theological discourses or postulations, theatrics or entertainment to convince anyone by human means or eloquent speech, of the absolute validity, power and seriousness of God’s Word.

God’s Word is sufficient in and of itself to draw the Repentant, Humble and Contrite soul to Christ and convict the wicked heart of their sin.

Faith that is spawned from human institutions of theology, denominationalism, credentialism and faith that come from human imaginations,  reasoning  and persuasive vocal acrobatics and theatrics only serve to glorify man and is not from God. Thus, this type of faith is false faith, human faith  and weak faith.

However, I proclaim that those of us who hear the Word of God, Trust His Holy Word, Surrender to His Holy Word, Obey His Holy Word, Depend upon His Holy Word and Keep His Holy Word (Holy Eternal Commandments and Moral LAW) as substance of the hope of eternal life and evidence of the integrity of God’s promises – I assure you that we have Genuine Faith!

In our eyes and in our souls, God’s Word doesn’t need academic or human validation. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

God’s Word and His HOLY Spirit are ONE and His WORD is Sufficient for us. Amen! (1 John 5:6-12)

The Word of the Lord said, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6)

It is by the Spirit of the Lord that we receive or perceive anything from God – even our Faith comes from God. (1 Peter 1:9, 1 John 5:4)

There are many preachers who preach about faith but have no knowledge of real faith or where genuine faith comes from. They quote, Ephesians 2:8 as if it is God’s formula for salvation without any divine revelation of the meaning of that scripture or of the terms Grace or Faith. [I shall teach on Grace in an upcoming Sabbath Lesson]

These so-called “saved by faith preachers” preach out of their own human strength, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, imagination and tradition. (Ezekiel 13)  Their true god is self.  Many refuse water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (Yehowshua Ha’ Mashiach)and excuse others from being baptized – refusing to trust and obey His ordained commandments regarding salvation (John 3:3-7, Acts 2:38). Their faith is a type of man-made faith or “church faith “- absent of God’s anointing and His Truth. (Ezekiel 13)

This type of faith is without the power of salvation and doesn’t have the approval of God. (Matthew 7:21-23) It is false and misleading.

However, I fear that this is where the majority of Christians are today – in a state of false religion with false prophets and feel good messages of prosperity and personal growth gurus housed in an institution of worldly theology, credentialism and moral perversion and depravity.

They are full of the spirit of religion but absent of the Spirit of Christ. They are devoid of genuine salvation but inundated with theological hypothesis on spiritual restoration and human development. Their faith is based upon man-made postulates and institutional suppositions.

As for those of us who are truly saved and walking in “Faith, we are totally convinced by the Word of God as it was first delivered to the saints without argument or proof.  We humble ourselves repentfully and we Hear His Word, Trust His Word, Surrender to His Word, Obey His Word, Depend upon His Word and Keep His Word (Commandments and LAW).

We have believed His Word of salvation. We have repented (died to sin). We have been buried with Christ by water baptism into His name. We have been resurrected (created a new) with Christ through the gift of the Holy Ghost which spoke out of us in a new tongue (in a unearthly, heavenly angelic language) . And we have this confidence; we are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. (Romans 8:9) We are Born Again!

Furthermore, because we have repented (died to disobedience,) believed, trusted, obeyed, and depended upon Christ Yeshua, we were gifted with the promise gift of the HOLY SPIRIT whose manifestation in tongue confirmed our acceptance by God and sealed us for the day of redemption.

NOW We Truly Have Genuine Faith. Amen!
