Today’s Sabbath Message – January 7, 2012

John 3:1-7 (NKJV)

Let us turn to John, Chapter 3, and read the first 7 verses.

1 There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

Jesus ends his dialogue with Nicodemus with an imperative and solemn statement.  “You must be born again.”

Nicodemus was a Pharisee.  A Pharisee was a member of the Sanhedrin Council.  That was the Supreme Court of Israel and its ruling body.  Although Israel was under the Roman Empire, the Sanhedrin Council ruled the Jewish people in all matters of religion and morals.  And Nicodemus was a part of that ruling body.  He was a Pharisee.

If Nicodemus were a modern day preacher, he would be an archbishop.  If he were a contemporary lawyer, he would be a member of the Supreme Court.  If it were a matter of popularity and sociopolitical influence, he would be Billy Graham or Bishop T.D. Jakes or Pastor Benny Hinn.

What I am saying is that Nicodemus was a morally just, religious man, but not born again.  He was a man who prayed, a man who read Holy Scriptures, a man who led worship services and conducted spiritual and religious matters.  But Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again.

Isn’t it shocking that a person may be a preacher, Sundayschool teacher, bishop, deacon, evangelist, choir member, church musician, usher or missionary and not be born again?  But more often than not, this is the case.  Many have been deceived by Satan and his counterfeit Christianity into believing that they are saved when in fact they are lost.  Many moral and religious people are lost and unsaved.

The world’s religious systems offer their many and varied plans of salvation on a wholesale scale but they don’t have a Heaven or Hell to place you in.  They are blind guides and false teachers who cannot lead where they do not go and cannot teach what they do not know.

I invite you to visit my web page at and begin discovering God’s ONE and ONLY true plan of salvation that hasn’t changed since the day of Pentecost.

  1. Praise the Lord Bishop Prince,
I really enjoyed this Bible Commentary and evangelical witness. It was on point and very enlightening. It confirmed my salvation. And I want you to know that I have been obedient to God’s instructions regarding His Salvation plan and I know that it is real. Please keep the Word coming. We need more pastors like you to be more concerned about saving souls than increasing their financial worth and notoriety. May God always Bless the work of Your hands and bring to pass the desires of your heart.
